HDI UK & Ireland is a Specialty and Commercial Lines Insurer, part of the Talanx Group. 

The team joined HDI in 2020 and have grown significantly! Our Underwriters have written the broad range of Political Risk and Non-Payment perils over a long period of time. The team have extensive experience writing both private and governmental non-payment. This is an exciting time to join a collaborative and successful growing team!

Risks are underwritten for a global client base with exposures in both developed and emerging market territories. Our client base includes large international banks and financial institutions, public agencies including export credit agencies and multi-laterals and some large commodity traders and exports. The portfolio encompasses all geographies and industry sectors.

The role

• To support the underwriting team in creation of underwriting templates, pre-underwriting due diligence, underwriting information collation
• To support the underwriting team with specific CPRI line of business tasks including enquiry distribution, meeting agendas, website updates, new client on-boarding, NDA agreements and ad hoc direct client processing including invoicing
• Assist in the development of underwriting tools such as pricing, MI and UW templates
• To analyse, assess and underwrite lower complexity business as identified by Senior UWs and colleagues
• To maintain underwriting discipline and divisional guidelines within the team and operate within granted authority levels.

Key accountabilities

Underwriting

• Underwriting, pre-bind processing, and servicing of new and renewal business within granted UW authority levels and in accordance with the business plan
• Pre-populate UW renewal template reports with all additional UW material and database data (premium/claims)
• Support the team in developing rating tools
• Work with team colleagues in data analyses to assess the performance of the account and suggest strategy development
• Assist with the maintenance of portfolio data
• Run compliance checks (contract certainty, sanctions and AXCO)
• Ad-hoc support for other parts of the specific line of business where opportunities for individual development or project work presents itself

Client/Broker Relations

• Attend client meetings and support the team in client development
• Develop and nurture UW relationships with key broking partners
• New business and renewal chasing to brokers and clients

Line of Business team support

• Monitor team inbox, duplicate enquiries, allocate out enquiries to Underwriters
• Maintain team weekly meeting agenda with updated budget figures, project updates, events etc
• PCR Mini-site : liaise with Brand Formula to update site with updated KYC docs and Team changes
• New client KYC : Manage KYC requests and work with Sanctions team/UW head if any new info is needed/official sign off etc
• Pricing tool – liaise with Ops team to manage pricing details across systems
• New NDA requests: liaise with HDI legal team and brokers/clients and save approvals/NDAs in i:drive outstanding
• Invoicing: generate, monitor and save invoice requests for direct clients policies & keep the invoice tracker up to date to ensure payments are made. Liaise with HDI Treasury team to review and report direct income

Process Improvement

• Identify and make process improvements for your area of expertise

Project Management

• End to end project management for projects within your own work area and contribute to any functional projects

Risk and controls

• Design, implement and maintain process controls to ensure the quality of the output for your area within the function. Ensure documentation of the process and output is accurate, up to date and accessible

Reporting

• Run, maintain and check reports as required
