The placement

HDI are offering a 12 month paid placement within the actuarial Reserving & Capital team in London.

The Reserving And Capital team works with claims and exposure data to track how losses develop over time, build views of ultimate cost, and support reserve and capital analysis. This provides insight into the financial health of the UK portfolio and demonstrates how actuarial judgement influences business planning and key management decisions.

Who we are looking for?

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented student to join our actuarial team on a placement year. As a placement student, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of tasks using your analytical skills and knowledge of actuarial science to help our company make informed business decisions.

What support will I receive?

You will be supported in your placement by an actuary in the specific team you are allocated.

When will the placement be?

The proposed dates for the Placement Programme will be September 2026 to August 2027 (exact dates TBC).

What skills do I need?

• Studying towards a degree in a numerical or analytical subject (e.g. Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Data Science). Please note, we are only able to consider students in their penultimate year of study.
• Having excellent communication, building effective relationships and solving problems using your analytical skills are crucial.
• An interest in pursuing the actuarial qualification within the general insurance industry upon graduation.

Step 2: Successful candidates will be invited to an assessment Centre at our London office in late June (date TBC).

Step 3: Following the Assessment Centre, the successful candidate will be offered the Placement.
